What is the MET FOR YOUTH x Uber campaign?

#MET4YOUTH, powered by Metropolitan, is a Youth Month initiative that provides selected young South Africans with Uber vouchers to help them get where they need to be. Whether it's your first day at work, an internship, a learnership, a business event, or another opportunity that supports your growth.

Who can apply?

You can apply if you are: 

  • Between 18 and 35 years old. 
  • Travelling to an interview or any youth development opportunity. 
  • Travelling to and from an Uber-accessible location. 
  • Running a small business, side hustle, or entrepreneurial venture. 
Is this only for job seekers?

No. 

This year, the campaign is also supporting: 

  • Interns 
  • Learnership participants 
  • First-job professionals 
  • Entrepreneurs and side hustlers 
  • Young people attending career or business development opportunities 
How do I apply?

Simply complete the online application form and provide the required information. 

Applications will be reviewed, and successful applicants will be contacted.

Is applying free?

Yes. Applying is completely free. 

How many vouchers are available?

There are a limited number of vouchers available. 

Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee that you will receive a voucher.

How will I know if I have been selected?

Successful applicants will receive communication via SMS and/or email. 

Please make sure you provide the correct Uber-registered contact details when applying.

When will I receive my voucher?

Successful applicants can expect to receive their voucher within 48 hours after confirmation. 

I applied but haven't received a voucher. What should I do?

Due to high demand, applications may take time to process. 

Please: 

  • Check your SMS messages. 
  • Check your email inbox and spam folder. 
  • Ensure you have submitted the correct Uber-registered contact details. 
Does applying guarantee that I'll get a voucher?

No. 

Because the number of applications is usually much higher than the number of vouchers available, not everyone who applies will receive one.

Can I apply more than once?

Yes   

If you have another qualifying opportunity during the campaign period, you may apply again. Please note that vouchers are limited, and priority may be given to applicants who have not yet received support . 

Can I transfer my voucher to someone else?

No. 

Vouchers are intended for the approved recipient only and may not be transferred or sold.

Where can I use the voucher?

The voucher can be used on eligible Uber rides within South Africa, subject to Uber's terms and conditions. 

Can I exchange the voucher for cash?

No. 

The voucher cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred to another person. 

Do I need an Uber account?

Yes. 

You will need an active Uber account to redeem and use the voucher.

I'm an entrepreneur. Can I apply?

Yes. 

Entrepreneurs, side hustlers, freelancers, and small business owners are encouraged to apply if transport support will help them access business opportunities. 

What types of opportunities qualify?

Examples include: 

  • Travelling to work 
  • Attending a learnership or internship 
  • Visiting clients 
  • Attending networking events 
  • Business expos 
  • Career development events 
  • Other growth opportunities 
Why is Metropolitan doing this?

Metropolitan believes progress happens one step at a time. 

Through Metropolitan Collective Shapers, we're helping young South Africans continue moving forward by providing practical support that eases some of the daily costs associated with opportunity.

  • Quick reminders:  
  • Voucher value is R300 
  • Unused voucher balance can be used for additional trips. 
  • Vouchers are valid from 16 June 2026 to 31 August 2026. 
  • Unused balance expires after 31 August 2026.  
  • Vouchers cannot be for cash or transferred to another person.
